Ready to begin?
It is easy – and with every step, you are closer to experiencing the speed and convenience of Big Bend Broadband.
1) First make sure you received all equipment necessary for installation from Big Bend Telephone Inventory checklist:
- Big Bend Broadband Set-up CD
- Ethernet cable RJ-45
Setup in Figure 1 is a single computer setup. If you wish to add multiple computer go to Figure 2.

Please be sure you have the correct software and hardware when attempting to install and use your Big Bend Broadband equipment and Set-up CD. You must also have telephone service with Big Bend Telephone in order to use Big Bend Telephone’s Broadband Service.
Operating Systems
For you to be able to take full advantage of the transmission speeds that are enabled by Big Bend Broadband, your computer’s operating system should be Windows 2000, XP or Mac OS 8.5 or higher.
Macintosh users can find detailed instructions in the self-help Macintosh folder on the Big Bend Broadband Set-up CD.
Minimum System and Computer Requirements
Windows Users
- Pentium 200 MHz processor (or equivalent)
- 64 MB (megabytes) RAM (or equivalent); 128 MB preferred
- Microsoft Windows 2000 or above
- 125 MB free disk space (512 MB or above recommended)
- Ethernet adapter
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
To view your system information in Windows:
Memory (example: 512, 256, 128, 64 MB RAM)
Right-click on “My Computer” from your desktop. Left-click on “Properties” and look for the information under “Manufactured and Supported By”.
Available Hard Drive Space (example: Free 2.65 GB)
Left-click on “My Computer,” then on “Local Disk (C).” You will see a chart that shows your available hard drive space.
Ethernet Adapter
Right-click on “My Computer.” Left-click on “Properties.” Next, click on the “Hardware” tab, then “Device Manager.” A list will appear; look for “Network Adapter.” If an item shows up under that selection, you already have an Ethernet adapter. If you do not have an Ethernet adapter, please contact your local computer hardware store for installation.
Macintosh Users
- Power PC or equivalent
- Mac OS 8.5 or higher
- 64 MB RAM
- 100 MB free disk space
- Ethernet adapter
